Program Manager - Midwest

New Majority Capital Foundation seeks a highly capable and adaptable Program Manager (PM), as we continue our national expansion. 

 

About NMCF

New Majority Capital Foundation is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization that addresses the persistent wealth gaps in the United States. We provide training and access to capital to enable underrepresented entrepreneurs to acquire existing small businesses and scale them. NMCF operates bETA, a 10-week accelerator that provides dedicated ETA (entrepreneurship through acquisition) training to aspiring entrepreneurs on acquiring a small business, operating their enterprise, and eventually scaling it successfully. At the end of the accelerator, fellows receive post-program support, as well as assistance with access to capital to help finance their acquisitions. 

About the Role

The PM should be a resident of a metropolitan area in the Midwest, with priority given to Detroit. The PM will work to create cohesion and successful administration of bETA, NMCF’s 10-week accelerator throughout our target cities. The Program Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of the foundation’s mission, in conjunction with NMCF’s board and other senior leaders. 

Reporting Relationship

The Program Manager reports to the NMCF Operations Manager. 

Roles and Responsibilities

The Program Manager will be responsible for providing administrative support to the program and its team members throughout the planning and implementation of the Foundation’s programs.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Recruitment: Coordinates with NMCF and Site Team (One (1) Lead along with three (3) Module Faculty, three (3) Business Advisors, and one (1) program coordinator) to implement a strategy to recruit aspiring entrepreneurs and setting criteria/metrics for applicants, working with Site Team to schedule, manage, interview, collect, and process application materials, facilitates the scheduling of applicant interviews with Site Team, while also conducting interviews of applicants, delivering acceptance and rejection phone calls, and coordinates with Site Team on all logistical information needed to onboard selected applicants. The Program Manager is also expected to participate in the recruitment and training of future hires in other cities. 

  2. Program Development: Participates in the course development with faculty, NMCF leadership, and the Site Team by selecting dates for each cohort and developing the program delivery calendar, scheduling and attending the pre-brief and walkthrough meetings for each class session (both virtual and in-person); proposes curriculum innovations for core and localized sections, assists in the identification and recruitment of local resources

  3. Facilitation: Manages the learning management system (LMS) where program materials are posted and participant communications take place, supports Site Team with the recruitment of panelists and/or guest speakers as needed, assists faculty members during classroom sessions by maintaining attendance, recording sessions, managing participation, collect participant evaluations after each session and distribute to Site Team, serves as the main point of contact for initial program technology set up, and creates participant profiles at the start of each cohort.

  4. Administrative: Coordinates any logistical information between Site Team and program participants, orders and organizes all supplies and printed materials for classroom/event use, manages local storage of curriculum materials, ensures the most updated materials are available to Site Team, assists Site Team with all program events and classes (in-person and virtual) which includes but is not limited to supervising Program Coordinator in organizing in-person events (planning menus and facilitating logistics, A/V), materials distribution within budget, in consultation with Site Team, submits purchase orders and processes invoice payments, assists Site Team with tracking budget expenditures and staying within budget, works with Site Team to coordinate faculty/staff contracts.

  5. Partner Development: Builds upon existing and establishes new relationships with local ecosystem partners including grantmakers, investors, and other ETA stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. BS preferred

  2. Impeccable judgment and tact

  3. A minimum of three to five years of work experience related to program management, classroom management, and/or accelerator administration

  4. Proven ability to manage multiple functions within an organization, including operations, communications, and programmatic teams; a track record of achieving operational excellence across multiple functions 

  5. Proven ability to work in a diverse team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively

  6. Flexibility and adaptability in changing environments

  7. Digital native - comfort in using/ability to learn a variety of software/technology tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite, Canva, Calendly, Adobe, Canvas, Mailchimp, and others

  8. Deep knowledge of the impacts of persistent wealth gaps and socioeconomic nuances among historically marginalized populations

Salary

The salary for this position is $75,000.**

Work Location

NMCF is a remote-first organization. This position is remote except mandatory in-person days before, during, and immediately after each accelerator cohort is onboarded in addition to team offsites, program and ad hoc events, and all-hands meetings. The Program Manager must have reliable transportation. Travel more than 100 miles will be reimbursed and is expected for the following:

  • Annual offsites with national team

  • In-person presentations as needed

  • Conferences

  • bETA launches and programmatic events
