Deal Sourcing Lead – Detroit
About New Majority Capital
New Majority Capital (NMC) is a mission-driven organization committed to eliminating persistent wealth gaps across the United States. We believe entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful tools for building generational wealth and closing the ownership divide. Our goal is to help acquiring entrepreneurs buy the right businesses and scale them successfully, creating new wealth opportunities that impact their families and broader communities.
NMC connects trained acquisition entrepreneurs with retiring small business owners. More than 1,000 entrepreneurs are active in our network, including 400+ alumni of our intensive bETA training program. We are expanding the seller side of the ecosystem through sell-side advisory services and a Succession Ready training program for owners preparing to transition out of ownership.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Detroit-based Deal Sourcing Lead to bring live small business acquisition opportunities into our ecosystem. This is a heavily performance-based role focused on transactable deals — not long-horizon ecosystem building. Your job is to find owners who are ready or nearly ready to transact, and to route them into the right path within NMC: acquisition by a bETA fellow, representation by our sell-side advisory, or enrollment in our Succession Ready training program.
The role also includes representing NMC at events and with organizations in Detroit's small business community as part of your sourcing work.
Key Responsibilities
-
Source live, actionable acquisition opportunities in the Detroit region — small business owners actively preparing to transact, typically within 6 to 24 months of exit.
-
Focus on businesses with $1M–$20M in revenue as the primary target; smaller and larger opportunities considered on a case-by-case basis.
-
Build and maintain a Detroit-region network of intermediaries who work with owners in transition: business brokers, bankers, wealth managers, accountants, attorneys, M&A advisors, and other referral sources.
-
Represent New Majority Capital at Detroit-area events, conferences, and community organizations serving small business owners.
-
Conduct preliminary screening of opportunities to determine fit for one of three NMC paths: acquisition by a bETA fellow, sell-side advisory representation, or Succession Ready program enrollment.
-
Maintain records of all sourced opportunities in NMC's CRM.
-
Maintain relationships with sellers in the pipeline so they make full use of NMC's programs, advisory services, and ecosystem resources.
-
Coordinate with brokers and other ecosystem partners on opportunities where NMC is not the lead advisor, ensuring our role in the transaction is appropriately reflected in the deal economics.
What We're Looking For
-
Established presence in the Detroit small business community, ideally with existing relationships with brokers, bankers, accountants, attorneys, wealth managers, or similar intermediaries.
-
Self-directed, self-motivated, and comfortable working with minimal external supervision.
-
Comfort with outbound prospecting and a mix of phone, email, and in-person work.
-
Familiarity with the lower-middle-market M&A landscape, entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA), or small business succession is a meaningful plus.
-
Sound commercial judgment for early-stage screening of acquisition opportunities.
-
A real estate broker's license is helpful but not required.
Compensation
Compensation is heavily performance-based and designed to reward candidates who consistently bring live deals to the table. The structure includes:
-
A flat fee for every deal closed.
-
A percentage of the deal-packaging fees NMC receives on completed transactions.
The specific compensation structure — including employment classification, any base component, and commission rates by deal path — will be finalized based on candidate experience.
Location & Travel
Based in the Detroit region. Travel exceeding 100 miles for NMC-related activity outside the Detroit area will be reimbursed.
Equal Opportunity
New Majority Capital is committed to providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment. We provide equal opportunities to all qualified candidates and encourage all interested individuals to apply.
